Sports Massage

sports-massageSports Massage is a particularly deep and often powerful form of massage that was developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event or function well during training. It emphasises prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons.

If you are an active or sporting individual, this form of massage can increase fitness capabilities and performance potential. It can aid recovery time following an injury and help to prevent further problems by breaking down adhesions and lactic acid build up.

However, it is now recognised that sports massage can also help normal people with injuries, chronic pain and restricted movement, improving suppleness and flexibility while releasing tension in over-tight or overworked muscles.

So whether you have neck and shoulder problems from working at a computer all day or want to ensure your body stays injury free when training, sports massage may well be of benefit to you.

Sports massage is currently offered at Wadebridge Osteopaths by Alex Harris.
